Ollie the Dragon - FINISHED

Hello there!

Following on from yesterday's post, I have been very fortunate to be able to spend some more time working on Ollie.  After a couple more hours worth of work, I'm happy to show you the final result (drum-roll please.....):

Ollie the magic dragon, lived by the sea.....

I've had hubby's and Grandma's sign-off that this definitely looks like Ollie, so the only thing left is to cross my fingers that his Mummy likes it.  Is it strange to feel really excited and sick in the stomach all at the same time?  (Or is that just a result of the fish I ate last night?)

Anyway, I'll keep it brief (for once) and sign-off by saying thanks ever so much for stopping by today and visiting Ollie and me.  If you have any comments or suggestions I'd love to hear them.

See you around in a couple of days!  (As soon as I manage to remove all this royal purple pastel dust from my fingers.)

  1. I think that your painting is gorgeous! The beautiful colours you have used and his expression of curiousity and contentment is much more than could be captured in a photo. Well done!

  2. Thank you so much anonymous - those are such kind words. I must admit that deep down, my artistic insecurity has crept in a little and I've wondered if this painting is good enough. Your encouraging words mean more than you probably realise.

  3. Kate we are not really artistic but have been noticing a change with the way you are drawing portraits.

    For example -

I thought lady in the veil was a solid effort, you were right about there being talent in there imho

but the more recent works you have been putting up seem much more vibrant and rich they have a great depth to the faces

We enjoy seeing how you are faring and growing as an artist (hopefully its OK to say that!)

Oh and Ollie looks great :)

  4. Thank you very much for your comment Amanda and Stephen! It is very thoughtful and insightful. I must confess I have been hoping that I'm improving, and it is wonderful to hear that others think I have. In many ways, this is one of the reasons I write my blog - to demonstrate that practice really does make a difference. I'm glad you like Ollie!
